Oct. 20th and 21st Weekend Events and Street Closures

October 20th Urban Bourbon Half Marathon.  Streets closed 6 AM to 2 PM, No Parking Friday Midnight to 2 PM

This half marathon starts and finishes outside City Hall downtown, runs through Waterfront Park, Nulu, Lexington Road to Cherokee Park, through the Park and back downtown.  The runners start at 8 AM, and are expected to finish before noon.  However to be on the safe side, Louisville Metro Police Department is posting street closings Saturday 6 AM to 2 PM, with No Parking Posted from Friday Midnight to 2 PM Saturday.  For more information about the half marathon, including a map of the course,  go to : www.urbanbourbonhalf.com   Cherokee Triangle streets and nearby streets affected are:

  • Lexington Road from Baxter Avenue to Cherokee Park Scenic Loop
  • Cherokee Park Scenic Loop and Alexander Drive
  • Cherokee Parkway from Willow Avenue to Grinstead Drive
  • Cherokee Road from Grinstead Drive to Baxter Avenue
  • Grinstead Drive from Lexington Road to Baxter Avenue
  • Baxter Avenue from Cherokee Road/Broadway to Liberty Street

October 21st Cyclouvia on the Bardstown/Baxter Ave. corridor; event is 2 PM – 6 PM.  Street closing 11 AM – 6 PM

CycLOUvia is a community celebration that promotes a healthier method of transportation in the burgeoning city. The Bardstown/Baxter corridor will be  closed to automobiles, and cyclists, skaters, pedestrians and dogs are encouraged to ride and walk their way along the strip.  Shops and restaurants are expected to be open as usual for a Sunday.  The streets closings and no parking areas are:

  • Bardstown Road from Douglass Boulevard to Baxter Avenue/Highland Avenue
  • Baxter Avenue from Highland Avenue to Broadway
